I’ve lived in the Isle of Purbeck for most of my life and even when away it is always in my heart! Growing up in Swanage gave me my love of the sea and appreciation of the quality of light. Straight down to Buckshore after school for a swim or out walking the cliff path. I still love walking along the coast and seeing the change of seasons. These days always with my camera and tripod to hand.
The story behind this wallpaper
It was a beautiful evening and sunset coincided with Low Water (Spring tides). The name Elephant Hide Ledge comes from the fissures in the rock, which give it the texture and appearance of an elephant’s hide. By the time I reached it, it was about 40 minutes after sunset. With my tripod set low and the filter in position, with the very low level of light this needed a 2 minute exposure to capture the atmosphere.
